Hod (Höðr)
The Blind God
The blind god who unwittingly killed his brother Baldr when Loki placed a mistletoe dart in his hand. Son of Odin and Frigg, Hod represents the tragic figure manipulated by malice, an innocent instrument of cosmic catastrophe.
Mythology
Hod was blind from birth and stood apart from the games when the gods threw weapons at the invulnerable Baldr. Loki approached him and offered to guide his hand, giving him a dart made of mistletoe. When Hod threw it, Baldr fell dead. In revenge, Vali, another son of Odin, killed Hod while he was only one day old. After Ragnarok, both Hod and Baldr will return from Hel to inhabit the renewed world.
