The Death of Baldr
When Baldr began having prophetic dreams of his death, his mother Frigg extracted oaths from all things not to harm him - except mistletoe, which seemed too young and harmless. The gods made a game of throwing weapons at Baldr, who could not be harmed. Loki, disguised as a woman, learned of the mistletoe exception from Frigg. He fashioned a dart of mistletoe and guided the blind god Hod's hand to throw it, killing Baldr instantly. This act of treachery doomed the cosmos to Ragnarok.
