Yami
Goddess of the Yamuna River, Twin Sister of Yama
Yami is the goddess of the sacred Yamuna River and the twin sister of Yama, the god of death. In Vedic mythology, she represents the feminine principle of life and continuity, contrasting with her brother's role as death. After Yama became the first to die, Yami grieved so deeply that the gods created night to help her forget.
