Valhalla - Hall of the Slain
Odin's great hall in Asgard where fallen warriors feast and train for Ragnarok. The ultimate destination for those who die heroically in battle.
The Hall of Heroes
Valhalla ("hall of the slain") stands in Asgard with 540 doors, each wide enough for 800 warriors to march through abreast. Its rafters are spears, its roof is shields, and its benches are strewn with armor. Here dwell the Einherjar - warriors chosen by Odin's Valkyries from among the battle-dead.
Each day the Einherjar fight and kill each other in combat training; each evening their wounds heal and they feast on endless meat from the boar Saehrimnir and mead from the goat Heidrun, served by the Valkyries. This is not heaven but Odin's army, gathered for the final battle at Ragnarok.
