Bodhisattva - Being of Enlightenment
An enlightened being who delays entry into final nirvana in order to help all sentient beings achieve liberation. The bodhisattva ideal is central to Mahayana Buddhism. Major bodhisattvas include Avalokiteshvara (compassion) and Manjushri (wisdom).
